The basic upgrade for cooling any pc is the cheaper of all, and consists in adding as many fans as your case allows you to do so, the procedure is as easy as installing a new drive will take less than 30 mins and can have lots of benefits. Make sure to unplug the ac cord from the wall outlet and touch the ac power supply to discharge any static you may have before proceed. |

Look if your mainboard has any 12v connectors for fan support (refer to the board owner's manual), look inside the case again and see what kind of fan better fits inside, another important aspect is the velocity of the fan, know this: speed = noise, a nice choice to reduce noise are fans with multiple speeds (Fans with tachometers see fig.1) they are a bit expensive but worth every cent you pay for them and when combined with fan drive panels the result is a drop in the system noise levels.

Even when most 12v fans can be connected directly to the mainboard (fig.2) you'll find out that on most mainboards only up tu 3 12v fans with tachometers can be attached, regular 12v fans by contrast can be attached directly to the power supply with some modifications: (fig.3) attach the fan as shown on the illustration to match voltage, you need to feed the fan with 12v power from the power supply and then ground it, the color of the "+12v" fan cable may vary but ground will always be black. |

When installing fans is very important to check the direction in which the air is blowed (fig.5), most fan configurations depends on one main factor, the power supply! this will determine the direction, since most power supplies blow hot air away from case the most common setup is below this paragraph (fig.4) if the power supply by contrast is blowing the cool air inside the case all fans installed must be redirected for thermal reasons shown later on this tutorial. |

Create vacuum: close all the ventilation holes on both sides (only lateral holes) and leave the front and back holes opened, vacuum will optimize the air flow inside the case. We are trying to avoid an air short-circuit (fig.6), where all fans are pointing directly inside the case wrong! there are no heat transfer inside figure #7 by contrast depicts how proper air circulation should be, where the heat transfer pass from the front of the case to the rear end of the chasis. |

A commom mistake: most users think that two fans blow more air than one, that's true but (and I've seen this) never put two fans together "like books on a shelf" (one next to the other) this will not benefit the heat transfer at all it will create turbulence. |
